Time management Management is greatly integrated into our lives. We manage a lot of matters: our households, jobs, businesses, monies and many other affairs. One thing that should be managed with all of those tasks is time. We use time management daily. Time management is something we don’t usually sit down and plan, that might hold true for some of us. It is one of those things we use if we want to or not. But for those who use it wisely know the benefits that it allows. I think it has components that can be used to help us, especially in homeschooling. I suggest coming up with a flexible plan with time goals. Realizing we must ignore time interruptions. Striving hard to stay focused and following through. I think that seeking ideas on how to improve our time management and how to use it wisely is include with this. To me time management is achieved like any other way of organization of something. Setting goals and planning is always first. You would have to look to see what you are trying to achieve in your homeschooling day. I normally start with the subject I want to teach. Then I estimate how long I would like to spend on teaching (that particular subject). I would do this for each. You can also take this approach pick the amount of hours for teaching and break up into allotted time for each subject or just estimated the time. Just remember: be flexible and do what is easy for you and your family. Remember that management of your time is there to help you use it more wisely. Nothing has to be written in stone. Ignoring time interruptions is a must. This is usually what gets in our way all the time. Such as, answering the phone for those less important calls. And we fool ourselves saying, “I’m just going to stay on the phone for 5 minutes” which turns to 15 which turns into ½ hour. Now you have blown math class. At least I have been there and understand now that a lot of things can wait until after school. Staying on key helps us stay focus. When we are focused we stay motivated and when we are motivated the quality of teaching is improved and lastly we feel good. I consider seeking ideas as part of time management because we all don’t have the answers. New ideas can give us renewed inspiration. This leads to new thoughts and new approaches that can relieve stress. That in turn improves our homeschooling experience. Thusly, time management is part of our homeschooling. We use it voluntarily or involuntarily. When used keenly we can accomplish new goals that are best with our time, Insha Allah. |
