It’s Time for the Truth One day my non-Muslim grandmother came, she came and asked us the same question she asked us yearly 'What do you want?' My family shot out, without a thought without shame talking at once... ...I sat still... Games, dolls, cars... Ya know the worldly stuff... ...I sat still... Then my grandmother turned to me: ‘What about you? Don't be bashful, tell me what do you want?' It’s time to tell the truth ' Grandmother' I began I felt as I was being watched by every man 'My gift I want for you... Is Islam I want to see you in a Hijab and in that beautiful Jilbaab I want you to be with me in Jannah I want you to be forgiven By the One and Most High I want you to live a life, a good life not bad, I want you to be on our side because your an enemy to me Unless you kiss your religion good-bye' I know longer felt shy I soon realized I had closed my eyes When I opened them My parents were ready to cry My sisters were silent My grandmother sighed ' I promised you a gift and that's what you wished now I must give . So so long old religion I must say good-bye My Granddaughter speaks the truth you see so I must accept the wish' |
